My Favourite Things About the Online Book Community

I've been feeling so much love towards the online YA book community lately. With all the attacks coming from far and wide, it's been amazing to see people coming together as such a wonderful community. People are so accepting and kind too, and so many people have been very kind to me. We still have a lot to do with regards to welcoming teens and promoting diversity, but WE ARE AWESOME, and I love you all <3 So without further ado, here's the top five reasons why I love the online book community.

1) It's so accepting! Seriously, the YA community is one of the kindest, most accepting communities ever. When I first decided to start blogging, I was so nervous that no one would want to read my blog or talk to me, but people have welcomed me with open arms. I've had so many wonderful bookish chats and made so many wonderful friends. I always want to meet others though, so DM me any time if you want to be bookish friends! <3

2) We're kind and we stick up for each other. As with any online community, there's going to be drama and disagreements. That's part of having different people in a community who have very strong differing opinions. But I think we're getting a lot better at accepting each other's opinions, and being kind. At the same time, the YA community is awesome at defending each other against bullies or trolls and promoting unheard voices. Positivity is so important. *throws party for whole book community and provides cake*

3) The community is kind of kick-butt! Who saw the book community sort out the New York Times bestseller scam this weekend? Woah! I think the lovely Laura Silverman summed up my thoughts on this. We are powerful and slightly crazy!

4) I love discovering new blogs and lovely people. There are so many lovely people in this community and I love reading all their thoughts on their awesome blogs. I'm going to make a whole post about some of my fave people, but here's a little mini list of some of my faves to satisfy you for now (who are all so awesome and just amazing and gahhhhh, I just want to hug you all! <3):

Aimal @ Bookshelves and Paperbacks (seriously, how beautiful is this girl's blog. JEALOUUUSSS.)

Chiara @ Books for a Delicate Eternity (she's such a lovely person, and her blog is wonderful (I love all the fonts!))

Brittany @ Brittany's Book Rambles (one of the most beautiful blogs ever, my go-to girl for great book recommendations, and such a lovely friend)

Rissi @ Finding Wonderland (a wonderful blog, full of lovely recomendations, also Rissi is the best!)

Emily @ Loony Literate (who has THE MOST BEAUTIFUL bookshelves, and so many wonderful posts, you should go visit ;D)

Alyssa @ The Eater of Books (who just devours books, and gives THE BEST recommendations)

Anisha @ Sprinkled Pages (all I need to tell you is that Anisha sometimes has BAKING RECIPES on her blog. Also she is the best, you should go follow her, okay bye.)

Cait @ Paper Fury (No of course I don't need to give a reason, it is impossible NOT to love Cait <3)

P.S. Will I ever make a post without a FRIENDS gif? Probably not XD

5) I find so many wonderful books. This one's obvious, although I don't know if it is a good thing - my TBR has grown tenfold due to my bookish friends. Curse you, bookish community, how dare you? <3

What do you guys love about being a part of the book community? Who are some of your faves? Spread the love and positivity in the comments <3

  5. I just love the sense of community and coming together to talk about books. It most often leads to forming friendships that run deeper than storylines too. Away from the internet, it seems so many of us don't have reading friends to interact with and I love the sense of togetherness that brings. So many awesome bloggers there Megan, three of my favourites as well <3

Ah, I feel so incredibly humbled by the fact I made it to your list *hug* I'm so glad you like my blog - that's made my day!!

Oh, I definitely agree that finding books through the community is one of the best things ever! I have found so many of my favourites through other bloggers that I doubt I would have ever found otherwise! It hurts though, because there are just so many books to read and I don't feel like I'll ever have enough time XD

    Lovely post, Megan <3

  7. I agree with everything you said here Megan! I think the YA community is very kind and accepting but also very vigilant and strong. One of the strongest advocacy groups I've seen. Laura was spot on!
